Schedule: Due to the nature of law enforcement work and operation, position may require occasional support outside of core working hours, as well as intermittent weekend support, mission dependent.

Job Summary:

The Mail Theft Violent Crimes Program Support Analyst supports continuous evaluation of mail theft and violent crime cases, continuous review of program specific specialty reports, review of lost/stolen Arrow key reporting, statistical analysis of violent crime and mail theft data, analysis of special mail theft complaint referrals and other special inquiries, and election security and election crimes program support.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 

  • Oversight - Conduct reviews of investigative case files and reports for quality, sufficiency, administrative compliance. Monitor and report on investigative activity utilizing databases and systems. Monitors, tracks and identifies trends in investigative and other reports containing case findings, information and recommendations. Monitors compliance with and make recommendations relating to national policies and procedures. Identify key performance indicators and regularly report on performance. Maintain awareness of mail theft, financial crime, and violent crime trends. Provides guidance in the development and maintenance of data and other information in connection with national programs.
  • Analysis - Provide statistical analysis of administrative and investigative activities. Provide statistical analysis of violent crime and mail theft data. Conduct preliminary analysis of complaints of criminal activity and report findings. Conduct searches of public, commercial, and law enforcement databases. Performs research and analysis of issues presented by Inspection Service, USPS management, and others.
  • Liaison - Liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Reporting Responsibilities - Responsible for documenting and reporting analytical results, creating graphic displays and reports that present clear and concise representations of the information analyzed; and disseminating data as required by the assigned task(s).

Minimum Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and significant experience conducting complex criminal investigations in at least two or more of the following areas: mail theft, financial crimes, public integrity investigations, or violent crimes.
  • Knowledge of Inspection Service policies, procedures, and programs at a level sufficient to provide procedural and technical guidance and policy interpretation;
  • Demonstrated experience conducting complex criminal investigations in at least two or more of the following areas: mail theft, financial crimes, public integrity investigations, or violent crimes;
  • Demonstrated extensive ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, sufficient to prepare technical and non-technical reports, and presentations for various audiences;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with key stakeholders, including private and public sector partners;
  • Extensive experience analyzing data and interpreting patterns or trends using the appropriate analytical techniques and methods;
  • Experience working with public, commercial, and law enforcement databases;
  • Experience working with large quantities of data from different sources;
  • Experience with preparing reports and presentations for internal and external audiences
  • Proficiency with computer software, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other similar programs.
