The Press Assistant is responsible for helping the operator with the overall operation of the press. Duties of this job include but are not limited to; job set up (which includes changing print cylinders, anilox rolls, ink, doctor blades, etc.) as well as helping to ensure efficient operation of the press and a quality product.
This position will work a 10 hour night shift (9PM-7AM) on Mon, Tues, Wed, and Thurs nights for a total of 40 hours a week.
Pay for this position will be $18.00 with an additional $2.50 premium for all hours worked between 7 PM and 7 AM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides assistance and support to the Operator in preparing the equipment (set-up) for the production run
- Assists the Operator in monitoring the actual production run and provides required materials during the run
- Assists in monitoring the environment to ensure health, safety, environmental, food safety/security, and housekeeping policies and practices are followed
- Cleans equipment and prepares for future runs by gathering materials and equipment
- Maintains spirit of cooperation within the team and collaborate with others to achieve safety, quality, waste, and production goals
- Demonstrate timely and effective problem-solving skills
- Input data accurately into a computer
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Stable work history
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalent
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot problems; mechanical aptitude necessary
- Must have the ability to accurately read a tape measure
- Ability to be self-directed and multitask
- Basic computer skills with attention to detail when entering data
- Proficient mathematical skills
Physical Demands:
- Lifting up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to climb, kneel, bend, squat
- Must be able to grasp, push, pull and have fine motor skills
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to pass Ishihara Color Vision test for color blindness
- Ability to wear PPE including but not limited to hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses or face shields
