About the role
SCOPE OF WORK: Supervises and coordinates the daily activities and operations of a student residence complex to ensure that residential facilities are safe, secure, and properly maintained, conducive to study, provide a living-learning environment that enhances individual growth and development, and in compliance with college or departmental policies and procedures among Resident Directors, Resident Assistants, and Residents. This position reports to the Director of Residence Life & Student Engagement at NHTI - Concord’s Community College.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Assists housing efforts, conference and camp housing, summer orientations, and open houses.
- Directs the operations of a NHTI residence hall, as assigned.
- Responsible for the opening and closing of the assigned residence hall. Completes all necessary damage billing, and room condition reports.
- Conducts regular health and safety inspections and insures appropriate community cleanliness standards in the residence hall.
- Supervises Resident Assistants and coordinates the training of the Resident Assistants among RAs in both halls and coordinates duty call schedules for the assigned housing unit.
- Supervises student staff members and assists in their hiring, training, and evaluation.
- Promotes community development and responsibility within the residence halls through creative, student-centered programming, educationally based student conduct outcomes, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Develops, coordinates, and evaluates educational, cultural, social, and recreational programs to enhance student development.
- Advises resident students and student groups to develop and maintain leadership opportunities for the students.
- Maintains availability and visibility with students and groups in the residence hall(s) in order to foster an environment that promotes the academic achievement, personal development and physical comfort for resident students, and community standards.
- Enforces and supports all college and departmental policies and procedures to develop a positive and orderly atmosphere with an emphasis on personal and social responsibility.
- Investigates and responds to concerns and complaints of students, parents, and NHTI personnel, in a manner that provides accurate information and fosters good public relations.
- Works with NHTI building maintenance personnel to maintain on-going programs of hall maintenance, cleaning, and refurbishment and assists security personnel to ensure the safety and security of student residents and investigates NHTI property damage.
- Responds to crisis situations and works with public safety and/or NHTI personnel in the handling of emergency situations and/or judicial matters.
- Works collaboratively with Campus Safety on issues of potential conduct or safety violations.
- Engages in professional activities that partner the college with the wider community by serving on college or system teams, or participating in community-sponsored events, as assigned.
