What will I be doing?
ü Support H-GAC’s Area Agency on Aging by overseeing and monitoring home repair projects from conception to completion
ü Conduct client interviews, assess home repair needs, and make work recommendations
ü Review construction plans and bids to determine they are in accordance with local building codes, priced reasonably and appropriate for the modification
ü Monitor of home construction sites to ensure modifications meet approved construction authorization and maintain an up-to-date record of construction activity and completion
ü Act as liaison between client and contractor to keep up high levels of communication throughout the work process
ü Perform home inspections and approve final contractor’s home modification/repair
ü Complete monthly reports on the status of work projects
ü Regional travel approximately 80% of the time
Position requires working in agency's southwest satellite office located in Richmond, Texas.
Key Qualifications
ü Advanced knowledge in building codes, material analysis and cost, construction process, industrial standards and building structures.
ü Knowledge of engineering principals and legal codes and policies
ü Compassion for older adults and persons with disabilities
ü Proficiency in all Microsoft Office software applications
ü Strong written and verbal communication skills
ü Maintain a Texas Driver’s License and auto insurance policy
ü Maintain State approved construction inspector license or certificate (preferred)
ü Experience as a home inspector (preferred)
ü Speaking another language is a plus, but not required
Do you have…
ü Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study
ü 5 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job related duties
