About the role

As a Service Operations IP Lead (Patent Analyst) on our growing, global Patent Search Group team, you work through patent searches to determine the patentability of inventions in the semiconductor field. We are looking for someone with a strong educational background in semiconducting that has a desire to advance in the IP field

About you - experience, education, skills and accomplishments

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics with a focus on Semi-conductor, Optics, nanoelectronics and materials physics, AC and DC power circuits, LED, optical sheets, semiconductor manufacturing technology including CVD and photolithography, semiconductor IC fabrication, semiconductor device packaging, wafer processing, low power circuit design, memory architecture, signal processing, and ASIC/FPGA based design

Would be great if you also had...

  • Masters degree
  • 0-3 year’s previous patent examining or patent-related or industry is strongly preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of technical literature in the area of subject matter expertise
  • Experience developing a search methodology and in conducting searches

What will you be doing in this role?

  • Strategically perform searches relating to patentability (novelty), validity, freedom-to-operate and infringement in the computer science technical area.
  • Perform Evidence-Of-Use studies by analyzing products currently used in the market that may be infringing on a patent of interest.
  • Perform qualitative analysis of patents and patent portfolios from a legal, technical and business perspective.
  • Conduct long-term patent landscape studies to identify trends in a technology field, deliver competitive intelligence and identify potential research and licensing opportunities.
  • Maintain proficiency with commercial patent databases and other proprietary databases that disclose technical publications.
  • Communicate effectively with customers in determining the scope of searches and draft informative reports that clarify and summarize search results.

Hours of Work

  • Full time, permanent
  • This is a fully remote position based anywhere in the United States
