Job Description
This position is with the ServiceNow Capacity Management Team.
The Capacity Operations Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing capacity management strategies to ensure optimal resource utilization for the company's infrastructure. This role requires deep technical knowledge of infrastructure and systems, as well as experience in capacity planning, performance monitoring, and resource allocation.
What you get to do in this role:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive capacity management strategy for the company's infrastructure and systems, including servers, storage, networks, and applications.
- Monitor resource utilization and identify areas for improvement, proactively making recommendations for optimization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that capacity planning aligns with business objectives and operational constraints.
- Design and implement performance monitoring and reporting systems to track key performance indicators and identify trends in resource utilization.
- Develop and maintain capacity models and forecasting tools to inform resource allocation decisions.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to capacity planning processes and procedures.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues related to resource utilization.
- Analyze system performance data to identify opportunities for optimization and make recommendations to improve system performance and scalability.
- Designing scale-out power/cost/performance optimize resources for instances supporting multiple users and experience working on low-latency database applications.
- Experience working cross functional highly matrix teams from ground up and managing touch points across key stakeholders, engineering organizations and senior executive leadership.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you have:
- 10+ years of experience in capacity planning, performance monitoring, or related role
- Strong technical skills in infrastructure and systems, including servers, storage, networks, and applications.
- Experience with capacity modeling and forecasting tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure.
- Experience with automation and scripting tools such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
For positions in the Seattle metro/Kirkland areas, we offer a base pay of $173,800 - $304,200, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure.
