ABOUT THE JOB
The Tepa Companies are seeking a Technical Editor/Writer (TEW) is a mid-level position responsible for writing content, proofreading, and editing (grammar, spelling, content, and acronyms) the content of high-quality technical documents, proposals, and reports for the Tepa Companies’ Construction Services (Construction, Industrial) and Professional Services (Environmental, Engineering, Technologies) companies for the federal, state, municipal, tribal, and private sector markets. In addition, the TEW is responsible for discussing/interviewing project personnel and subject matter experts to write content for technical documents, proposals, and Tepa’s Data Asset Management (DAM) platform.
The successful TEW candidate will work independently and in collaboration with proposal teams, communications, and project personnel, and subject matter experts to write content and edit complex technical documents, proposals, and reports within set deadlines. You will play an essential role in ensuring the content of all Tepa Companies' proposals, technical documents, and reports are written to speak with one consistent Tepa voice. In addition, you will be responsible for gathering technical and non-technical data with a focus on compliance of written content to client solicitation requirements. This position is supported by an experienced editorial team, including Technical Editors, Proposal Managers, Project Managers, and subject matter experts. The position reports to the Technical Editor Development Manager.
Job Functions:
- Provide technical editing of proposal documents, marketing/communications materials, and reports for federal, state, municipal, tribal, and private sector clients in the fields of construction, industrial services, architecture, engineering, environmental, and technologies
- Utilize MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) to edit and manage documents and Tepa’s DAM platform
- Work independently and in collaboration with subject matter experts, proposal and project managers, and marketing/communications staff to refine written text for clarity
- Communicate via email, phone, video, and in-person to clarify and gather information
- Review/edit grammar and spelling as required in document reports
- Review, research, analyze, update, and edit information on the Tepa’s DAM platform (OpenAsset)
- Edit documents and DAM data with attention to detail to maintain continuity of information and document style based on the Tepa style guide
- Develop and implement process improvements, including training aides, to help improve Tepa document and report quality
- Provide tech editing in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner to meet deadlines
- Apply communication and interviewing skills to gather needed information from internal and external personnel to support writing and document development activities
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with subject matter experts, proposal and project managers, marketing/communications staff, and leadership within the Tepa Companies
- Refine written style to adhere to Tepa guidelines and create clear, persuasive, and articulate documents that speak with one Tepa voice
- Develop and maintain document content in Tepa’s cloud-based DAM platform
- Work with Tepa personnel to translate complex ideas into easily understandable document text
