Overview
The Rehabilitation Aide for speech-language pathology will support therapy providers and assist inpatient care activities under direct supervision of a licensed clinician within the policies andprocedures of the Institute, the departmental program, and in accordance with laws and regulations ofthe State of Maryland. The Rehabilitation Aide will assist clinical staff in the provision of patient careprograms and perform supportive tasks, including those serving the administrative, maintenance andoperational needs of the program.
Responsibilities
1. Prepare, maintain, and clean patient evaluation/treatment areas, materials, and equipment beforeand after sessions. Adhere to Institute’s policies regarding patient and staff safety, hygiene, patientprivacy and patient-specific and standard/universal precautions.2. Assists in patient-centered activities by creating client-centered therapy projects and seasonalactivities, and executing other similar tasks under close guidance of the supervising therapist.3. Aid transitions by greeting, comforting, and assisting patients during arrival, guidance throughtherapy areas, and departure.4. Charge and maintain technology for clinician/patient use including iPads, communication devices,Cyracom towers, and digital audio recorders.5. Maintain program supplies for testing, telehealth, toy library, pantry, and test closets, includingordering, inventory control, labeling, and storing supplies for all therapy areas. Participate inmaintenance, organization, care, cleaning, transport, tracking, scheduling, and safe storage ofsupplies.6. Identify and correct/report quality control problems, such as removal and coordination of repair ofbroken equipment, or environmental hazards.7. Assists the department in maintaining a safe environment of care through regular audits of theclinic spaces and performing corrective actions under the guidance of the clinic leadership.8. Actively participate in supervisory meetings and assist department to execute tasks related topreparing for regulatory review and performance improvement projects.
Qualifications
• Must possess and maintain CPR certification from American Heart Association or American RedCross within 3 months of training/date of hire.• Trach/vent trained within three months of training/date of hire.
EDUCATION:• High School diploma or GED required.• Associates degree preferred.• Enrollment in health occupation curriculum, certification, or academic program is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:• Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferred.• Experience working with or treating children or adults with developmental or acquired disabilitiespreferred.
