About the role

This position is primarily engaged in teaching.

Hold, at minimum, a master's degree from an acceptable accredited institution in the field of instruction or closely related discipline at time of hire. Preferably has completed most or all of the requirements for the doctorate or equivalent. Must be able to demonstrate effectiveness in teaching.

This is a temporary appointment for a stated term or time period on a full-time or part-time basis. The normal teaching load is four courses per semester.

 

General Description/Primary Purpose:

The School of Nursing is seeking a 12-month, non-tenure earning, Visiting Instructor of Nursing, Part-Time. This position will report to Michelle Edmonds, Director, School of Nursing. Position responsibilities include 4/4 teaching load.

The successful candidate will:

- Teach in areas of expertise (i.e. Psych Mental Health, Adult Health, Pediatrics, Community Health, Women’s Health and Obstetrics, Research, Leadership)

- Supervise students in clinical areas

- Support FNP student clinical placements

- Participation in School committees

- Perform nursing and community service in areas of expertise

Anticipated Start Date: The position is expected to begin on December 18, 2024

Working Hours: Varies

Supervision Exercised: This is not a supervisory role

About the Department: The School of Nursing offers a wide variety of programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Our programs have a community-based, population-focused curriculum corresponding to changes in healthcare delivery trends. The curriculum helps students understand community environments as well as nurturing and building relationships with community agencies.

Required Qualifications:

- Master’s degree in nursing (MSN)

- Recent clinical practice as RN/APRN

- Minimum of five years clinical experience as RN/APRN

Preferred Qualifications / Skills:

- Prior experience as academic or clinical nurse educator (preferred)

Required Licensure:

Unencumbered license as RN/APRN in Florida (or eligible for endorsement for Florida nursing license)
