Within DCF, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH) Program office is recognized as the single state authority for substance abuse and mental health services. The Office of SAMH is statutorily responsible for the planning, evaluation, and implementation of a comprehensive statewide system of care for the prevention, treatment, and recovery of children and adults with serious mental illnesses or substance use disorders.
North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center (NFETC) is a 216 bed, all male, forensic, mental health rehabilitation facility. The Center is located in northeast Gainesville, Florida on 639 picturesque acres with regular sightings of deer, turkey and other wildlife. NFETC employs a variety of entry level to leadership positions including food service, maintenance, direct care, nurses, counselors, rehab therapists, medical doctors, security, psychiatrists, and psychologists.

Are you an experienced Registered Nurse seeking a dynamic role in a medical, surgical, or long-term care unit? North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center is looking for a skilled RN to join our team, providing comprehensive care and supervising nursing staff in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Supervision & Leadership: Oversee and evaluate para-professional and non-professional nursing staff, ensuring optimal resident care and compliance with policies.
- Patient Care: Administer treatments, medications, IVs, and emergency interventions. Provide comprehensive medical, surgical, and psychiatric care to residents.
- Care Coordination: Collaborate with physicians, dietitians, consultants, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective treatment plans and procedures are followed.
- Staff Training: Schedule in-service classes, train nursing staff, and conduct performance evaluations to improve the quality of care.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records, including progress notes, care plans, and medication administration logs.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required for the position:
- Knowledge of nursing principles, practices and techniques.
- Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
