ChristianaCare is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our laboratory leadership team as a Laboratory Technical Specialist. This is an outstanding opportunity for a highly skilled laboratory professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, mentoring colleagues, driving quality initiatives, and ensuring excellence in patient testing.

In this role, you will serve as the technical expert for Hematology/Coag laboratory disciplines, partnering with laboratory leadership, clinical biochemists, and quality teams to optimize instrumentation, validate new methodologies, maintain regulatory compliance, and support the delivery of high-quality patient care.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the technical resource for laboratory staff on instrumentation, methodology, quality control, and testing issues.

  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for laboratory instrumentation and testing processes.

  • Perform method validations, verifications, and analytic measurement range studies for new and existing assays.

  • Review and assess unusual or abnormal laboratory results to ensure accuracy and clinical validity.

  • Collaborate with laboratory leadership to prepare for CAP, Joint Commission, and other regulatory inspections.

  • Develop, revise, and maintain laboratory procedures and technical documentation.

  • Assess and support caregiver competency, training, and ongoing professional development.

  • Coordinate preventive maintenance activities and assist with workload and productivity initiatives.

  • Partner with laboratory leaders, physicians, nurses, and vendor service teams to resolve technical and operational issues.

What We’re Looking For

  • BS MLS (ASCP) or equivalent (ASCLS, CLIS, AMT, MT)

  • Minimum five years’ experience in area of expertise, with one year in supervisory or leadership position.

  • Subspecialty (ASCP) certification preferred.

  • At least one year of leadership, supervisory, lead technologist, or technical specialist experience.

  • Strong knowledge of clinical laboratory instrumentation, quality systems, troubleshooting, and regulatory requirements.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and mentoring skills.
