About the role

Job Description:

This position provides oversight and direction of the Medical Transport Air and Ground Communications Center operations for air and ground medical transport services across the Intermountain Health system as well, as outside the geographical areas Intermountain provides services. This oversight includes the development, planning, organization, and implementation of all aspects of the Communication Center operations for both air and ground transport.

Essential Functions

  • Develops the strategy and leads and drives strategic initiatives for the Communication Center while aligning with organization and Medical Transport operations goals.
  • Oversees and leads a team of leaders and caregivers, providing oversight, mentoring, training, and support to foster a culture of excellence, cohesiveness, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership to develop and oversee the Communication Center budget, to meet targets and identified financial outcomes.
  • Serves as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders including regulatory agencies, healthcare providers, and community partners to promote collaboration and ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices.
  • Oversees all aspects of Talent Management including staffing, recruitment, scheduling, and performance accountability.
  • Develops and implements a culture of safety to include ensuring proper policies and procedures are in place in accordance with the appropriate accrediting and governing bodies.
  • In conjunction with other Medical Transport leaders, ensures the Post Accident / Incident Plan is complete and improved.
  • Proactively identifies best practices and regulation changes in the communications field and implements changes into policies and processes.
  • Oversees the selection, purchase, and operation of communication equipment.
  • Establishes and maintains key performance indicators (KPIs) and data metrics to measure and track performance and improve performance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an applicable field. Degree will be verified.

Demonstrated experience with radio and telephone communications.

Proven record of supervisory leadership experience.

Strong knowledge of Medical Terminology.

Demonstrated  working experience and knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Medical Transport related field (commercial flying, aviation related degree, flight dispatcher, aviation communications specialist, etc.).

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
  • Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
  • May have the same physical requirements as those of clinical or patient care jobs, when the leader takes clinical shifts.
  • For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$50.97 - $78.69
