Associate Performance Capture R&D Systems Technician

Rockstar is looking for a talented Associate Performance Capture Systems Engineer who’s passionate about advancing motion capture technology. This is a full-time permanent position based in the Bethpage, NY motion capture facility.  

WHAT WE DO

• We develop animation technology, from performance capture through to a sophisticated runtime engine, for massive open world games.
• We are a global team of artists, programmers and researchers who collaborate on pushing the boundaries of character animation on next generation hardware.
• We support and work closely with performance capture production, animation, and technical art teams, across multiple projects at different Rockstar studios.
• We work with bleeding-edge technology to capture actors’ movement, facial, and audio data to create photo realistic content in our games.
• We customize hardware and software technology to improve the quality of our performance capture shoots.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate with cross functional teams to make breakthroughs in AV and motion capture technology.  
• Document the workflow and topology of our performance capture systems which includes AV, timecode, and proprietary technology 
• Assist with overall systems maintenance and health reporting.  
• Assist with the communication and collaboration between IT and Performance Capture departments.  
• Assist with systems integration, testing, and deployment.   
• Track development workflow.  
• Liaise with technology and software vendors.  

QUALIFICATIONS

• Undergraduate degree in Film Science, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

PLUSES

• Familiarity with broadcast engineering, camera systems, or video pipelines. 
• Experience using CAD software for diagram creation. 
• Experience with 3D printing, milling, soldering, and assembly. 
• Knowledge of python or related scripting or programming language.

The pay range for this position in New York State (inclusive of New York City) at the start of employment is expected to be between the range below* per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
