This position promotes the patient care philosophy and objectives of the professional practice governance members by subscribing to and supporting CHW standards of care through the coordination of patient care activities.  Acts as an active member of the leadership team to support the care management model, CHW scope and standards of pediatric clinical nursing practice, legal regulations, CHW Code of Ethics and hospital policies.  Works toward achieving ongoing development of leadership skills and participates in professional activities to stay current in relevant area of clinical practice.  Facilitates the development and engagement of professional and technical personnel (registered nurses, graduate nurses, nurse interns, technicians, unit secretaries) providing patient care.

Schedule & Location: 

• Weekends @ Milwaukee Campus 
• Includes:
  • 24 Hours/Week of staffing within the department (8 or 12 hour shifts) | Potential Schedule: 19:00 - 03:00 or 19:00 - 07:00
  • 16 Hours per week of Administrative Office Work

Department Details: 

• The Emergency Department/Trauma Center provides emergency health care for children and adolescents up until their 18th birthday who present for care.. Emergency care is provided for all types of illnesses and injuries, 24 hours a day. 
• The severity of illness and injury varies and is defined by the Triage guidelines as non-urgent, urgent, and emergent.  54% of all inpatient admissions will come from the EDTC, which is 17% of all EDTC patients.  With the frequent populations seen, collaborative practice protocols help to expedite care delivered.

Experience Requirements: 

• Approximately two to three years technical experience necessary in order to gain knowledge of professional nursing practice and procedures, and proficiency in the care of complex pediatric patients, as well as experience in advance supervision in order to oversee unit staffing and activities of subordinate staff.
• Analytical skills that is necessary to assess complex patient conditions effectively and to develop comprehensive plans of care.  Synthesizes multiple sources of information to assist in the resolution of human responses to complex problems.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with interdisciplinary health team members and consumers.
• Must be able to walk, stand for long periods, to lift, position or transfer patients and equipment over 80%
        of the assigned work period, as well as lift and position patients weighing up to 75 pounds.

Education, Certification & Licensure Requirements: 

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, consideration will be given to applicants currently enrolled in a baccalaureate program in nursing or a BSN completion program with an anticipated graduation date within a time frame to be agreed upon, not to exceed 4 years from hire date.
• Must possess current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Wisconsin.
• Current CPR certification – Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cro
