The Red Hat Search Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer - Search Technologies, to join us.

 

In this role, you will be able to make a positive impact on the search experience of Red Hat's customers, partners, developers, and employees. We're looking for someone who is passionate about quality and performance in a wide variety of systems including search engines, machine learning models, and analytics platforms.

 

As a Software Engineer, you'll interact frequently with stakeholders, other engineers, and managers to gather requirements, pitch your solutions, and provide status updates on your engineering efforts.

 

The desired time zone for this role is EST.

What you will do

• Contribute value to Red Hat customers through the enhancement of both customer and internal systems
• Develop software that contributes to Red Hat's modern search and online diagnostic platforms
• Serve as part of an agile and globally distributed product development team responsible for both customer-facing solutions as well as internally-integrated systems
• Design, implement, and extend both internal and external facing software
• Ensure ongoing quality of the application code bases through bug fixes, refactoring, and test automation
• Collaborate with other developers across multiple teams and technologies for cross-team projects

What you will bring

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related engineering field
• 4+ years of development experience with search technologies
• Ability to work EST hours
• Expertise with search technologies like Lucene, Solr and Elasticsearch, Apache Spark, or Fusion
• Expertise in Java programming language
• Familiarity and interest and/or experience with machine learning and statistical models is a big plus
• Experience developing object-oriented server-side applications
• Experience with large scale information retrieval and natural language processing
• Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Background in supporting technical customers in the use of software systems
• Experience with continuous integration (CI) and continuous development (CD) tools and practices
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; good written presentation skills
• Experience with distributed systems is a plus
• Experience using Linux or other UNIX-like operating system is a plus

Desirable Skills

• Work with and train ML models to provide automated solutions.
• Experience dealing and negotiating with stakeholders
• Software development and deployment with Openshift
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies
• Passion for Open Source 

 

The salary range for this position is $90,480- $120,000. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.
