Your New Role 

This internship will be located in the NYC area. The selected intern will be expected to join us in the office on a regular cadence based on the intern manager’s in office schedule. 

 

Alloy is a small team with a big heart, and we are seeking an intern who is ready and willing to dive into the creative process and be a hands-on member of the team from day one. The intern will learn about the publishing and media industries, read and edit book manuscripts, write coverage, attend development meetings, and participate in brainstorming sessions. We are most interested in candidates who are passionate about books and storytelling, eager to learn, organized, and feel they can flourish in a fast-paced environment.
 
Your Role Accountabilities 

  • Assist the editorial team with reading manuscripts, providing editorial feedback, copyediting, writing copy and coverage, and finding industry comps.
  • Participate in development meetings and assist with titling books, brainstorming new story concepts, and auditing/note-taking book plotting meetings.
  • Attend creative and editorial meetings and take notes as needed.
  • Explore Alloy’s extensive backlist library and develop new ways to bring existing content to new markets.
  • Conduct market research, including identifying current trends, popular genres, themes, or concepts in the publishing industry as well as gathering data on potential new business opportunities 
  • Provide administrative support, e.g., printing manuscripts, mailing books, organizing files etc.

 

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Must have a passion for reading and creating/editing commercial books.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Word and Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Must have a strong command of the written word with high reading comprehension and strong communication skills.
  • Must be able to maintain discretion and composure when dealing with well-known writers.
  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required) 
  • Must be a rising Junior or Senior (18 years or older) 
  • Must be in academic good standing (3.0 or above GPA) A transcript will be required to verify your GPA if an offer is extended. 
  • Warner Bros. Discovery will only consider candidates who are presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who will not require work visa sponsorship from Warner Bros. Discovery now or in the future in order to retain their authorization to work in the United States. Candidates currently on any student or exchange visa, including F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1, etc., will not be eligible for the internship program.
