Maintenance Helper/Mechanic

Location: Lansing
Schedule: 2nd Shift
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: $25.21/hr

About the Position

JLL is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Helper to join our team on 2nd shift. This role provides critical support to our operations and maintenance staff, ensuring our client's facility remains in optimal condition.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide regular and predictable attendance to support team and client needs
• Maintain and replace light bulbs throughout the facility
• Assist operations team with building and equipment maintenance and repairs
• Perform general office maintenance including hanging pictures, installing keyboard trays, and repairing office furniture systems
• Complete minor plumbing repairs
• Conduct minor repairs to lawn and grounds
• Execute special tasks including painting, locksmith work, tenant service requests, special cleaning, and general maintenance as assigned
• Move office furniture, machinery, equipment, and materials as requested
• Support operational staff in repair and maintenance of building equipment
• Comply with policies for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials
• Attend safety training and adhere to safety policies
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Keep organized records of completed work
• Set up Maximo routes
• Perform Maximo data entry
• Complete other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Minimum one year of applicable experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic plumbing, and electrical
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to comply with both Jones Lang LaSalle and client-directed policies and procedures
• Physical ability to:
  • Stand, use hands, and communicate regularly
  • Walk, reach with arms and hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl frequently
  • Regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds
  • Frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds
  • Work outdoors and in mechanical/equipment rooms in various weather conditions
  • Work around moving mechanical parts and heavy equipment
  • Work in wet/humid conditions, high places, and with risk of electrical shock

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of applicable technical training program
• Previous experience using Maximo or similar CMMS systems
• Experience in commercial or industrial maintenance settings

Physical Requirements

This position requires specific physical capabilities including:

• Close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception
• Ability to adjust focus
• Tolerance for exposure to fumes, airborne particles, outside weather conditions
• Ability to work in loud environments
• Occasional exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat
