About the Role:
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Fueling Technician to join our marine operations team. This position involves traveling to multiple fueling sites to support marine vessels, often requiring long hours of driving and working in all weather conditions—day or night. The schedule is based on vessel operations and may change due to unforeseen circumstances. We are seeking candidates with extensive mechanical experience to assist in other divisions during downtime and offseason in the Fueling Division.
Description:
The position’s primary responsibility is to safely conduct bulk oil/fuel transfers over the water into marine vessels. This involves the use of several types of hose connections, pump equipment, different refined fuel trailer configurations, spill containment/response equipment, basic hand tools, troubleshooting, and collaborating with people. Deliveries are made at all times of day, in all types of weather conditions, at various location types (Ports, Steel Mills, Public Parks, Stone Docks, Quarries, etc.), and in correlation with a multitude of diverse types of people and/or agencies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Safely conducting over the water transfers around the Great Lakes, which includes, but is not limited to, the following:
· Operating pump equipment
· Deploying transfer hoses to/from vessels
· Connecting/disconnecting hoses to/from fuel transports
· Communication with the vessel, fuel transport drivers, plaza marine group, security personnel, agencies, dock workers, and other delivery or service providers who may be conducting a transfer or delivery simultaneously with you.
· Completion of various transfer paperwork before, during, and after the transfer
· Documentation and organization
· Spill prevention, spill containment, and spill clean up
· Job site planning to include determining the best way to set up or stage the pump equipment and fuel transports for the different site conditions or circumstances you may encounter
· Daily maintenance and upkeep of equipment to include pre/post operation inspections, greasing, changing wear components, etc.
· Driving for up to 8 hours to and from fueling locations within the Great Lakes area
· Up to 60% travel and overnight stays as fueling locations for primary position and assignments within secondary position(s)
· Fuel sampling and labeling
· Training (Coast Guard required and recurring company training)
Other duties as assigned within the company during downtime in primary position or off season.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications:
· High school diploma
· Chauffeurs license with acceptable driving record
· Driving experience with backing and maneuvering a truck and trailer combination
· Ability to use smartphone, calculator, and/or iPad or tablet
· Ability to work well with others, flexibility, and patience
· Ability to perform multiple movements of up to one hundred (100) pounds
· Ability to bend, twist, kneel, and stand
· Ability to stand for extended periods of time
· Strong Mechanical aptitude
Preferred qualifications:
· CDL and commercial driving experience
· Ability to multitask and work under pressure
· Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
· Possession of valid Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)

· Prior Hazmat experience and knowledge
Working conditions:
The primary position requires multiple hours of driving to the fueling sites and working in various weather conditions to include heat, cold, rain, and wind at all hours of date and night. The primary position is contingent on the marine vessels schedule and subject to change based on unforeseen circumstances with the vessels.
