Overview:

This position will require the applicant to support research in advanced manufacturing with a focus on automated disassembly of devices. The technical professional will support ORNL’s efforts to become leaders in automated recycling through research in vision systems, robotics, and process integration.

 

The Department of Energy Manufacturing Demonstration Facility and the Systems Automation and Monitoring Group at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) are seeking a technical professional to support projects in automation. The specific focus of this job posting is to fill a research need in the area of automated recycling of power devices.

 

Major Duties/Responsibilities

  • Operating heavy duty robotics equipment
  • Setting up vision systems and integrating them with control systems
  • Conducting experiments with robotics in automated dissassmbly of devices
  • Gathering and interpreting data
  • Designing follow-up experiments based on data gathered
  • Report to scientists and other technical staff

  • BS degree in a business, science or engineering related discipline
