Team Summary

The Site Reliability Engineer – Database Administration (DBA) is a member of a cross-functional Operations Engineering team responsible for running our Visa Spend Clarity for Enterprises production infrastructure and delivering to our platform modernization strategy.

Essential Functions

What a Site Reliability Engineer does at Visa:

The Platform Engineer in the Operations Engineering team is responsible for finding the right way to support product engineering teams run robust applications in our environments. In this role, you will have a balance of improvements, systems operational support, patch management, lifecycle application management, security compliance, and unplanned work with contribution to strategic initiatives. To succeed you will work closely with all members of the Technology Group to make visible and improve the reliability, availability, performance, monitoring and operations of Visa Spend Clarity for Enterprises.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
• Experience supporting geographically disperse systems across multiple time zones
• Microsoft SQL Server 2014 and above, in a multi-node cluster configuration. Production environment exposure to SQL Server 2019 or above would be advantageous
• Data integration and data file handling
• Experience with performance optimization and debugging of complex SQL environments
• Experience with scripted automation of processes with PowerShell and other orchestration tools
• Knowledge of SQL Server in Public Cloud systems
• Experience with AlwaysON, Replication and Disaster Recovery methods
• Experience of SQL Cluster Management
• Enterprise tool monitoring knowledge, Redgate product experience would be advantageous
