Job Title: Global Logistics and Trade Compliance Specialist

Hiring Range: $75,000-$85,000


Job Summary:

The Global Logistics and Trade Compliance Specialist (L&C Specialist) will serve as Whitestone’s expert for global logistics, trade compliance, and customs. They will ensure our exports to global markets and international imports comply with local regulations. The L&C Specialist will support Sales and Production by preventing customs issues, resolving escalations, and improving visibility across international and high touch domestic shipments. They will do this by researching and educating internal and external stakeholders on international compliance expectations. This role requires a proactive and thorough approach. They will work with carriers, brokers, 3PLs, and overseas vendors to keep freight moving with accuracy, compliance, and predictable outcomes.

This is a “build-first” role: you will help define the global logistics and compliance roadmap, set standards, and implement systems that grow with the company. Your work will directly shape the foundation of Whitestone’s global logistics ecosystem.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assign accurate Harmonized Codes and validate vendor classifications and declared values before shipping
  • Prepare and review commercial invoices, export/import documentation, and supporting data for global markets
  • Resolve customs delays and escalations across FedEx, DHL, UPS, USPS, freight forwarders, and regional brokers
  • Manage shipments moving on vendor-controlled freight with limited visibility and intervene on compliance or customs issues
  • Ensure Whitestone exports and imports comply with destination country regulations, restricted items lists, dangerous goods regulations, and IOR requirements
  • Provide Sales and Production with pre-sale compliance guidance for HS codes, duties, taxes, restricted items, and documentation requirements
  • Coordinate international and high touch domestic shipments, including 3PL communication and exception handling
  • Maintain Whitestone’s internal trade compliance database for HS codes, country rules, restricted items, and carrier limitations
  • Identify and help evaluate cost-effective global trade management (GTM) tools, partners, and third-party compliance resources
  • Build and manage relationships with carriers, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and 3PLs to support predictable global logistics
  • Track shipping patterns, recurring issues, and compliance risks and report trends to Operations
  • Create and maintain clear internal documentation, templates, and process guides for international shipping and export/import compliance


Qualifications

  • Three to five years experience in international logistics, trade compliance, or export and import operations
  • Experience preparing export documents and navigating customs outside the USA
  • Experience preparing important documents and navigating customs within the USA
  • Strong knowledge of HS c
