Salary Range:

$210,000.00 - $246,000.00

What’s the role?

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join the GenAI Enablement squad to play a major role in driving the platform vision and strategy for the GenAI capabilities at Etsy.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing the strategy to drive GenAI capabilities leveraging LLMs at Etsy. Different teams will use our innovative capabilities that in turn will help nearly 100M buyers and over 5M sellers navigate Etsy’s extensive marketplace and deliver many more outstanding customer experiences. For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub or in the San Francisco Bay Area may be the first to be considered. For candidates within commutable distance, Etsy requires in-office attendance once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. What does the day-to-day look like?

• Develop sophisticated applications to take on challenging and ambitious tasks leveraging LLMs

• Create systems based on well-architected framework principles

• Help define and own the roadmap, working collaboratively and proactively with senior engineers, partner teams and team leadership. The initiatives include platforms and tools that enable customers to do state of the art machine learning leveraging LLMs at Etsy.

• Collaboratively design and develop reusable distributed components (services, libraries,sdks…) to train, fine tune and optimize LLM capabilities.

• Work with partner teams to act as a consultant on how to best use LLMs for their own use cases

• Collaborate across other engineering partner teams to continuously improve LLM development velocity and capabilities at Etsy

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

• 8+ years of industry experience designing, building, and supporting Internet serving infrastructure, machine learning platforms, machine learning services and frameworks.

• Experience with LLMs, including fine-tuning, evaluation, and system architecture. LLMOps experience is a plus

• Strong track record of working with machine learning systems and/or platforms. 

• Programming languages: Python, Java or Scala, C++ (optional)

• Frameworks: Tensorflow, PyTorch, Spark, Airflow, KFP; 

• Platform: Terraform, GCP and GCP VertexAI, AWS and AWS AI platform (plus), Monitoring/Observability, experience with production support tools of internet scale systems
