Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a highly skilled and strategic Senior Manager of Special Projects. This position is responsible for leading and executing high-impact initiatives across our finance organization.

Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. As the successful candidate, you will work directly with executive leadership to plan, manage, and implement critical finance projects, including system upgrades, process transformation, M&A integration, regulatory compliance, and strategic analysis.

Your additional responsibilities as the Sr. Manager, Special Projects will include:

  • Lead and manage complex, cross-functional projects within the Accounting & Finance function, ensuring timely and high-quality execution.
  • Serve as the project lead for finance-related initiatives such as ERP implementation, process automation, reporting enhancements, and internal control improvements.
  • Partner with teams across Accounting, Finance, Tax, Treasury, and IT to drive alignment, improve workflows, and support business objectives.
  • Conduct financial analysis and data modeling to support decision-making related to special projects or strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and present business cases, executive-level updates, and post-project performance reviews.
  • Identify opportunities for operational efficiency and risk mitigation across finance operations.
  • Support integration and alignment of accounting practices in mergers, acquisitions, or divestitures.
  • Lead or support ad hoc investigations, audit readiness projects, and financial compliance efforts.
  • Monitor project progress, manage change control, and ensure proper documentation and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

Skills / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or consulting, with at least 3 years in a project or program management role.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale or high-impact financial projects with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and familiarity with GAAP, cost accounting, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in a global organization strongly preferred.
