Job Description
The position holder is responsible for the Manufacturing Engineering group for Single Use Endoscopes (SUE) product and process development. Promotes best practices in process development and industrial engineering across all SUE Product lines across the product development phases.
The position holder manages the engineering staff and partners with cross functional leaders to develop and execute the strategic direction for developing and improving processes according to product, project, and business requirements to launch products on time, with best-in-class reliability, delivery, and cost performance.
Job Duties
- Direct supervisory responsibility for Managers, Engineers, Technicians and contract staff.
- Conduct regular department meetings with staff to resolve issues, maintain engagement/focus, and share updates on project and activities.
- Develop skill sets of assigned staff to meet functional objectives, business objectives and employees professional goals.
- Coordinate with colleagues across various functions to manage and prioritize critical project activities and provide direction to engineering staff accordingly.
- Responsible for Single Use Endoscope process development inclusive of design for manufacturability, supply chain, assembly and test (DfX). Influences design partners to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturing.
- Partner with program managers to ensure resources are appropriate across programs.
- Manage department budgets as needed.
- Responsible for Single Use Endoscope Process development activities from concept through delivery.
- Liaise with manufacturing operations to ensure the voice of operations is incorporate into process design and a smooth handoff to production and sustaining teams.
- Lead industrial engineers to ensure product line layouts enable efficient lean product flow, process cycle times are well balanced to optimize productivity, the manufacturing process is appropriately scalable, and processes are ergonomically appropriate.
- Responsible for the development and validation and control, with sound statistical basis, of capable production processes that meet operational objectives including capacity, cost, and quality standards.
- Partner with equipment engineering teams to provide requirements for manufacturing and test equipment as appropriate.
- Monitor and manage the product cost structure throughout development phases to ensure that cost of goods targets are realized according to business requirements. Hold teams and cross functional partners accountable to cost structure targets.
- Coach the manufacturing engineering team on process technology selection and automation decisions based and process risk, volume, cycle time, and technical requirements.
- Prioritizes and manages execution of manufacturing engineering deliverables of multiple projects through production phase. Facilitate effective handoffs of commercialized production lines to production teams.
- Works with other leaders cross-functionally to standardize, leverage and implement engineering tools and establish best-demonstrated practices
- Provides engineering resources in support all necessary projects and activities.
- Own and drive all operations and process risk management documentation.
- Drive proactive behavior within the engineering team.

Job Qualifications
Required:
- B.S. degree in Engineering or equivalent required. An advanced degree (M.S. or MBA.) is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of industry experience with a proven track record of successful product development within a regulated product development environment.
- Minimum of 7 years of management experience with multiple direct reports.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team setting bringing products from conception through market release and beyond. A record of commercializing and delivering products into volume production is required.
