<p><br/> Position Description</p> <p> </p> <p>ESB Networks is licenced to build, operate, maintain, and develop the electricity network in the Republic of Ireland. ESB Networks require a Professional Engineer with Project Management experience to join the Networks Strategic Programme Team as an Engineer. This is a full time, permanent role with excellent benefits and exciting opportunities to develop a career leading the transition to a low-carbon energy future. </p> <p> </p> <p>The Strategic Programme team are responsible for developing the rolling multi-year portfolio of all work carried out on the transmission &amp; distribution network. This work is key to ensuring the deliverability of this portfolio and ensure that ESB Networks delivers on its Networks for Net Zero Strategy and the prevailing price review commitments.</p> <p> </p> <p>The strategic programme team provide business intelligence and insights by the critical analysis of the portfolio and programme data. This provides good quality planning and reporting information to senior management to enhance business decision making. The role will require extensive communication and reporting with stakeholders in order to ensure that multi-year work programme targets, regulatory obligations are achieved and the requirements identified to do this are understood and managed appropriately. The team leverages on large data models to implement new reporting technologies and various lenses and constraint analysis as part identifying and optimising project and programme portfolios in line with business strategies. The work undertaken by this team provides great experience for anyone looking to broaden their knowledge of the networks business and the exciting prospect of delivering on its strategies at scale.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> Key Responsibilities</p> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Development of the strategic level plan for the overall portfolio of work being carried out on the Transmission &amp; Distribution Network while working with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure accuracy and consistency across the business</li> <li>Development of Portfolio Planning &amp; Reporting Software Tools (i.e. Excel templates &amp; dashboards, Power BI, Portfolio Programme Management (PPM) Tool, Cora Systems, SAP 4/Hana etc)</li> <li>To own, optimise and embed processes, templates, and tools, partnering with the business to embed a culture around efficient delivery of the portfolio.</li> <li>Liaising with the Delivery Organisations, Finance, Network Planners, Asset Managers and the wider programme team to ensure alignment of Work Programmes, Budgets, Expenditure and Forecasts</li> <li>Representing the Strategic Programme team in various cross functional teams and working groups such as Annual/Multi-year Work Programme Planning</li> <li>Developing portfolio requirements with respect to design, materials, resources for all work identified until the end of 2030.</li> <li>Following up on ad-hoc queries and reporting requests (e.g. FOI's, AIE's, Regulatory &amp; Finance Queries, Management Information Requests)</li> <li>Work with design and delivery teams to ensure that new projects are communicated and assigned to the relevant teams in a timely manner</li> <li>General administration and other portfolio support duties as assigned from time to time</li> <li>Convening meetings as required</li> <li>Presenting to the monthly Governance Boards, as required</li> <li>Monitor the achievement of targets, budgets &amp; controls and report on these as required.</li> <li>Support the wider programme team as necessary.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>Experience and Qualifications</p> <p> </p> <p>Essential</p> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Minimum 4 years relevant experience</li> <li>Level 8 Engineering Degree or equivalent</li> <li>Strong Stakeholder Management skills and commercial acumen</li> <li>High motivation and desire to learn new skills</li> <li>High level of commitment and excellent interpersonal skills</li> <li>Ability to act independently and take initiative.</li> <li>Strong data analysis &amp; management skills</li> <li>Full clean driving licence</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>Desirable</p> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Broad understanding of Transmission and Distribution Network Technologies</li> <li>Knowledge of the Regulatory Framework</li> <li>Chartered Engineer status</li> <li>Project Management qualification</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>Location</p> <p> </p> <p>ESB Networks, Leopardstown Road, Dublin 18</p> <p> </p> <p>ESB is committed to smart working – combining digital tools with a culture of trust and empowerment to enable flexible ways of working.
