About the Role

New York Times Cooking is looking for a versatile production coordinator to support our vertical video operation for our on-and-off-platform audiences. This role will work closely with our social editors to ensure successful and efficient production of videos for NYT Cooking. This role will track production budgets, support workflow development and be responsible for coordinating and booking freelancers. The Jr. Production Coordinator will upkeep production calendars and ensure that timelines are kept and deadlines are met. This role will report to the Video Operations Manager. 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with social editors to assign and coordinate production for platform-specific social videos, including hands & pans videos, for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and other emerging social platforms

  • Coordinate video assignments to producers, recipe developers and freelance editors 

  • Perform administrative tasks including scheduling, onboarding, invoicing and budgeting.

  • Work closely with the video operations manager to help develop, upkeep and implement workflow across the video and social video teams

  • Support day-to-day operations for videos in production 

  • Support, build and maintain production calendars and timelines using Airtable. 

  • Partner with social editors to develop production plans that are efficient, effective and follow proper process and workflow. 

  • Support managing data and video archives.

  • Assist with equipment sourcing, scheduling and deliveries for studio and on-location shoots.

  • Assist with uploading and publishing of vertical video assets, as needed

  • Ensure necessary legal and invoicing contracts with video talent/locations are secured 

  • Make recommendations and identify best practices that will improve our overall production process

  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.

  • This role reports to Video Operations Manager, NYT Cooking

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience creating digital video for a social platform

  • Highly organized and comfortable with managing budgets and invoices

  • Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro and basic knowledge of video editing

  • Must have an understanding of video production equipment needs and operation
  • Must be able to make quick decisions under deadline in a newsroom settings

  • Must have strong editorial news judgment and knowledge of the digital food/cooking landscape

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A passion for cooking and the mission of The New York Times
  • Familiar with Instagram, TikTok and emerging video trends

  • Collaborative team player with a positive attitude

The annual base pay range for this role is between:$80,952.15$82,000 USD
