ROLE Overview
The Accounting Specialist will report to the Managing Director of Finance. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, efficient, and systematic, with experience using accounting software. The individual will be responsible for preparing Journal Entries and reconciling all the cash accounts daily/monthly into the General Ledger accounting software. Additionally, the ideal candidate is a team player who believes in the KIPP Memphis school model and is committed to helping build a network of high- performing schools that empower all students with the academic, character, and life skills they need to succeed in high school, college, and the competitive world beyond.
- Ensure all invoices are processed and assigned to appropriate school or department
- Code and submit invoices for SST in Concur
- Complete manual check runs in Abila
- Manually enter and submit client paid invoices
- Add new vendors in Concur and Abila
- Take SST deposits to the bank
- Scan mailed invoices to Concur
- Prepare positive pay and send to controller
- Prepare and Upload invoices from Concur to Abila
- Prepare and Upload Checks from Concur to Abila
- Reconcile monthly credit card payments and expenses
- Prepare Journal Entries for various accounts
- Work with school management, auditors, and federal programs consultant to ensure accurate and timely financial and compliance reporting to internal and external stakeholders and other required entities.
- File W-9s for new vendors
- Perform other assignments/projects as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree, preferred
- 2-4 years of previous accounting experience in an educational setting.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
Additional Information
Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience, degree attainment, and credentials.
ADA Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing and actively monitoring student behavior while teaching
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child
- Must be able to facilitate classroom transitions by walking through hallways and up and down stairs with students
