Does that sound like someone like you? We are seeking a full-time Public Health Outreach Worker/Spanish Interpreter. This position works under the direction of a Public Health Nurse Department to provide clinical/general support and interpreting services for clients in the health department clinics, community, and home settings. What You'll Do:
The Outreach Worker/Spanish Interpreter’s duties include interpretation and translation of instructions and other information provided by health care team members to Spanish speaking clients. Medical information obtained is recorded in the medical record and relayed to the medical provider. Interprets patient needs, concerns, and challenges expressed by Spanish speaking clients to health care team members. Provides technical support and can assist health care professionals in performing clinical examination of patients. May perform patient measurements such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure, height, weight; may collect and label laboratory specimens. Provide direct clerical support (keyboarding, filing, reception) and assist clients as eligibility technician in completing appropriate paperwork documentation and scheduling. Performs outreach duties for Clinical and Baby Care programs. Other duties include delivering medications and/or other items such as food, clothes, and baby items as needed to families in need. The Outreach Worker will identify and work with contacts in the community to reach the Hispanic population and high-risk populations to promote public health and public health services.

Minimum Qualifications
What we're looking for:
The candidate must be able to communicate in English and Spanish both orally and in writing.
Experience, training and/or certification in Spanish medical interpretation.
Ability to prepare required pre-clinic paperwork
Office experience with public contact and culture sensitivity
Keyboarding, filing and knowledge of computer applications
Additional Considerations
Experience working with a diverse population and at-risk families.
Knowledge of medical terminology and basic health services.
Experience providing interpretation services in a medical office environment.
Prior maternal child health experience desired.
Experience working in an in-home setting preferred.
