Description
Gordon College is a vibrant and diverse Christian community that is launching a new online Master of Public Health (MPH) program. The MPH Program at Gordon will provide top-quality public health education while incorporating a Christian-based worldview. Thus, the College is seeking applicants for multiple full-time, open-rank faculty positions to support and enrich this program, specifically in the areas of Epidemiology and Health Policy & Management.
Successful candidates will be committed Christians, exhibit excellence in Epidemiology and/or Health Policy & Management, and be passionate about teaching and mentoring graduate students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Qualifications
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
Teaching
- Teach classes within the MPH program related to the candidate’s area of expertise
- Develop new courses
- Advise MPH students
- Supervise student practicum and internship experiences
- Direct MPH student capstone projects
Professional Service and Outreach
- Provide leadership to the college through participation in faculty meetings and committee service
- Provide professional service to the field (i.e., ASPPH, APHA, CEPH)
- Contribute to shared governance through committee membership within the College
Required Knowledge, Skills and Expertise
- Must profess faith in Jesus Christ as Lord; must accept Gordon’s Statement of Faith; must practice Christian values in daily interactions with students, faculty, staff, and the public as outlined by Gordon’s Statement of Life and Conduct; and must work to advance Gordon’s mission through this position
- Demonstrated commitment to an intentional Christian workplace and public health practice in faith-based settings
- Master’s degree in public health or a closely related field. Doctorate degree highly preferred
- Ability to work in a team environment with academic faculty and public health and/or community practitioners
Preferred Qualifications
- Engagement with national, regional, state and/or local partnerships that will enhance the MPH program
- Evidence of strong potential for establishing an independent, extramurally-funded research program
- Minimum 3 years of full-time experience in higher education or equivalent public health education experience, with knowledge of professional accreditation standards and their implementation
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and motivate adult learners in a distance-education environment
- Demonstrated ability to work with adult learners with variable skill levels, various learning styles as well as diverse cultural and professional backgrounds
Rank will be commensurate with experience, and the anticipated starting date is August 2022. Though the program will be offered online, some travel to Gordon College’s campus (Wenham, MA) for periodic in-person student workshops may be required.
