Job Description
The Brushfire Literature & Arts Journal is a student-run organization at UNR that publishes two journals per year (one per semester). All art reviewed and published by Brushfire is submitted through our website.
With every new edition of the Brushfire, we strive to represent the diversity, originality, and dedication of our artistic community. As an ASUN organization, we also strive to be the creative literary and visual work outlet for our student body at UNR. Our main priority is to connect with the various art communities at UNR and throughout Reno. However, anyone can submit to Brushfire. We receive and publish art from across the country.
In order to achieve our goals, staff and volunteers also collaborate with other campus clubs and organizations, to promote Brushfire’s name and purpose, and to establish good relations with peer art organizations.
Collaboration is in Brushfire’s nature. Much of the work done will be with the help of co-workers and volunteers. What is most important is the drive to work in a team and work for the goals of this organization.
Our editors handle all concerns with literary and art submissions, including but not limited to: reviewing and editing submissions, communicating with submitters, and working alongside a volunteer judging panel. Editors will oversee all copyediting operations for the journal, which may include, but is not limited to: copyediting all poetry, prose, and overseeing other volunteer copyeditors. On a final note, our Editor position will work with the Brushfire Executive Editor and fellow editors to make any last edits to the final proof of the journal.
All staff members are required to attend weekly meetings in which progress updates, announcements and challenges will be discussed.
