TOA is seeking a Registered Nurse to assist in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management. Promotes and restores patients’ health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members, provide physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families.


Responsibilities

  • Performs selected nursing and administrative duties.
  • May escort patients from waiting room to exam room.
  • May take patient medical histories, obtains chief complaints, and takes vital signs, prepare patients for examination and treatment, or review chart and file for completeness.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies for clinical procedures such as aspirations, injections, X-rays.
  • Administers injections, and removes casts, splints, and dressings as directed by physician and may prepare prescriptions as directed by physician.
  • Assists physicians in preparing for minor surgeries, physicals, and related treatment.
  • Assists with the scheduling of tests and treatments and coordinates patients’ surgeries including scheduling, insurance coverage and pre-certifies surgeries if needed.
  • Responds to patient and pay or phone calls by securing information from physician and/or providing the appropriate information. Screens telephone calls for referral to nurse or physician.
  • May secure insurance pre-certifications as required by insurance companies for diagnostic tests and durable medical equipment.
  • Orders and maintains clinical and office supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains patient files in the EHR, records and other information.
  • Complies and condenses technical and statistical data for reports and records.
  • Attends required meetings, participates in committees as requested, participates in professional development activities, and maintains professional affiliations.
  • Performs related work as required.
  • Required to know all physicians’ protocols. 

Requirements

  • Graduation from a practical nursing program.
  • TN State issued/Board approved license. 
  • CPR Certifications or trained Healthcare Provider Course.
  • Knowledge of medical practice and patient care.
  • Knowledge of clinical operations, medical equipment, and medical safety.
  • Basic nursing skills, customer relations and patient care skills. 
  • Ability to interact with physicians.
  • Telephone and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
