Job Position Description
The Teachers and Bilingual Education Department (TBED) in the College of Education and Human Performance at Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) invites applications for a 9-month faculty position of Assistant/ Associate Professor of Teacher Education - Literacy (Tenured/Tenure-Track) to begin August 2025 or Spring 2026. The Core-Subjects EC-6 Program faculty are dedicated to preparing future educators, researchers, and leaders in the fields of literacy using both evidence-based and innovative practices to meet the needs of diverse learners. The Core-Subjects EC-6 program in TBED offers a Bachelor of Science degree with licensure options in K-12 on our two campuses (Kingsville and Weslaco).
Responsibilities
The successful candidate is expected to:
Coordinate the undergraduate Core-Subjects EC-6 program;
Recruit students for the programs;
Teach a variety of undergraduate and/or graduate Reading and Education courses;
Serve on university, college, and department committees;
Maintain a record of scholarly productivity commensurate with faculty position, related to literacy;
Advise undergraduate and graduate students in their area of expertise (advisement);
Contribute to course and program development;
Continue professional development and stay at the cutting edge of research in Literacy and Education.
Required qualifications
An earned doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Literacy from an accredited institution (ABD applicants considered);
Current teaching certification (EC-6, middle school, or secondary school) in the U.S.;
Minimum three years of successful teaching of students in the content area of reading in public PK-12 settings in the U.S.
