About the role

Safety Worxs is seeking a Controller to lead the company’s multi-state financial operation. This role is responsible for end-to-end accounting ownership, including financial reporting, tax strategy, payroll oversight, invoicing integrity, and internal controls. The Controller will serve as the company’s senior accounting authority, providing leadership, oversight, and strategic financial insight.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the accuracy of financial statements, reporting, and all close processes
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax, and multi-state payroll requirements
  • Oversee tax planning, filings, audits, and external advisor relationships
  • Manage payroll, invoicing, and billing accuracy aligned with contracts and timekeeping
  • Design and enforce internal financial controls, risk management, and audit readiness
  • Build scalable accounting processes and support cash-flow planning as the company grows
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Accounting team
  • Partner with Leadership, HR, and Operations on financial strategy

Qualifications:

  • Active CPA license (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Proven experience as a Controller, Senior Accounting Manager, or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax compliance, and multi-state payroll regulations
  • Strong client-facing and executive communication skills
