POSITION SUMMARY 

The Senior Accountant / Contractor is responsible for supporting billing, revenue reviews, and order management activities. This role ensures accurate processing of logistics data, invoicing, and revenue recognition while supporting monthly close, audits, and ad hoc reporting. The ideal candidate is highly reliable, detail‑oriented, comfortable working with ambiguity, and able to learn new systems and processes quickly in a fast‑paced environment. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following: 

  • Review customer orders and billing transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with contractual terms and accounting policies
  • Review and validate logistics quotes, applying judgment to confirm alignment with customer agreements and revenue recognition requirements
  • Support the monthly close process by ensuring logistics and billing activity is properly recorded, reconciled to source documentation, and supported by audit‑ready schedules
  • Own the credit and rebill process, including root‑cause analysis, appropriate classification, documentation, and timely resolution
  • Create and review manual sales orders as needed, ensuring proper controls, approvals, and accounting treatment
  • Oversee daily invoice generation and distribution, resolving issues that may impact timely or accurate billing
  • Process and review inventory movements into hold locations, ensuring accurate system records and alignment with accounting and operational requirements
  • Serve as a point of contact for internal and external audits, preparing support, responding to inquiries, and explaining processes and controls
  • Prepare and analyze customer‑level case billing reports, providing insights and support to cross‑functional teams including Finance, Operations, and Leadership
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting to support accounting reviews, process improvements, and business decision‑making
  • Identify opportunities to improve billing accuracy, reduce manual effort, and strengthen controls within logistics and billing processes
  • Perform other TransMedics tasks and duties as assigned/required.  

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • This position will not have management responsibilities. 

PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 4–6 years of progressive experience in accounting, billing, revenue operations, or order‑to‑cash functions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Strong understanding of revenue reviews and billing processes
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the monthly close process, including reconciliations and documentation suitable for audit review
  • Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., QAD, Oracle, or similar) and billing platforms
  • Strong attention to detail and a proven ability to analyze detailed transactional data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Experience responding to internal and external audit requests
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and exercise sound professional judgment in a fast‑paced environment 
  • Public accounting or revenue accounting experience
  • Experience supporting logistics, inventory, or operational accounting processes
  • Knowledge of revenue recognition principles (ASC 606) and their application to billing and customer agreements
  • Previous experience owning or leading credit and rebill processes, including root‑cause analysis and process improvement
  • Experience partnering cross‑functionally with Operations, Logistics, Sales, and Finance teams
  • Familiarity with audit control frameworks and documentation best practices
  • Experience preparing management‑level or customer‑level billing analysis and reports
  • Prior involvement in process improvement initiatives, system enhancements, or automation efforts
  • Experience supporting international billing and European VAT compliance, including accurate tax treatment, invoice requirements, and audit‑ready documentation
  • CPA or progress toward professional certification
