JOB SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Integrity Advisor is responsible for the completion of duties such as conducting team member investigations and maintaining investigation files, conducting grievance meetings with team members and union representatives, meeting with team members and resolving team member concerns, providing advice and counsel to all levels of the property management team to ensure compliance with the policies, procedures, CBAs and other employment related regulations, providing support to the mediation/arbitration processes and handling concerns of the union representatives assigned to the property.
In addition, this position is responsible for managing the daily clerical operation of Human Resources POD coordinator staff. This includes ensuring that team members are trained and supervised, Front Counter forms are update, records are protected, supplies are ordered and accurate company records are properly maintained.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Conducts team member investigations and prepares and maintains investigation files.
- Counsels team member regarding personal or work-related issues. Solicits team member feedback regarding issues, concerns & suggestions.
- Handles the grievance process including grievances files.
- Assists with mediation/arbitration preparation.
- Assists with gathering and responding to legal inquiries and requests.
- Verbal/Written communication of new and/or revised team member policies and procedures.
- Negotiates and writes grievance settlements and other union related correspondence.
- Additional related duties as requested by department management.
- Composes and distributes routine inter-department correspondence as related to team member labor relations issues.
- Acts as a liaison between team members and the departments regarding possible disputes.
- Acts as a liaison between union and the departments regarding possible disputes.
- Champions, within the organization, a commitment to honesty, integrity, and responsible corporate behavior.
- Responds to unemployment claims.
- Attends unemployment hearings.
- Provides guidance for the team member assistance program.
- Facilities Board of Review meetings.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- College Degree in Industrial Relations, Labor Relations, HR or Business Administration preferred.
- Previous HR experience preferred.
- Previous casino experience preferred.
- Previous casino management experience preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Basic knowledge of employment related laws.
- Basic knowledge of Labor Law with a general knowledge of Human Resources Management.
- Knowledge of National Labor Relations Act and Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action.
- Strong organizational, analytical, communications skills (verbal and written), and the ability to handle complex and emotional issues.
- Some operations experience preferred.
- Successful candidate should have experience working in a Union environment, including collective bargaining and grievance handling.
- Ability to cultivate strong relationships and ability to influence.
- Strong computer literacy skills required.
- Problem solving, decision making and project management skills required.
- Ability to handle complex and emotional issues while maintaining confidentiality required.
- Demonstrates an upbeat and positive attitude.
- Ability to uphold and demonstrate the highest level of integrity in all situations and recognize standards required by a regulated business.
- Bi-Lingual Preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Is able to work in smoke filled environment and able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Is able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to handle a heavy business volume, and sensitive situations relating to staff and guest problems, in a timely manner.
