Role Description

A great opportunity to be a part of the Zoetis Incubator Research Lab in Fort Collins, CO. Zoetis is seeking an experienced researcher to join the molecular biology team studying the immunology and disease pathology of veterinary species. We are looking for a passionate laboratory scientist to act as a key contributor in the design, planning, execution, and interpretation of in vitro and in vivo experimental studies to delineate key pathways, potential therapeutic targets, and their mechanism of action in veterinary disease.

Responsibilities will include designing and executing experimental studies using in vitro and vivo systems, sourcing and processing primary tissue samples from a variety of species, and running quantitative experiments and analyses on these samples with the goal of identifying and validating new therapeutic regimens. This scientist will be expected to interpret and present the results of their experiments to other researchers and teams within Zoetis.

The successful candidate should have at least 4 years of relevant experience working in a biological laboratory setting, and be comfortable with experimental design, execution, and analysis. They must also be a creative individual with a proven track record of analytical thinking.  The candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced collaborative environment.  Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are essential, and the candidate should display an interest in improving animal welfare and quality of life.

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

• Experience with immunoassays (ELISAs, Western Blots, Luminex), flow cytometry, or molecular systems biology techniques (RNA sequencing, spatial sequencing, single-cell molecular techniques, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, GWAS etc.)
• Experience working with in vivo models of inflammatory or infectious disease, xenografts, or other transplant immunology
• Experience working in digital data or AI
• Ability to execute a variety of experimental/technical tasks involving primary sample collection, processing, and analysis

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Educational background: either
  • BS (in biology or related field) with 4+ years subsequent laboratory experience,
  • MS or PhD (in molecular or cellular biology, immunology, oncology, or related field)
• A proven track record of interpreting and sharing scientific data, and ability to collaborate across teams and across multiple disciplines.
• Self-starter, able to prioritize work and handle multiple projects simultaneously

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Work environment: The person filling this position will work predominantly in a laboratory setting. There may be exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals. There may be handling of, and/or exposure to animal tissue and zoonotic organisms

The following base pay range reflects the anticipated base pay for this position if a selected candidate were to be located in Colorado Base pay may vary based on location and other factors.

 

Base Pay Range: $77,000 – $111,000
