This Senior Director of Strategic Planning & Operations provides high level direction and oversight to the strategic planning and fundraising enablement team, ensuring the prioritization of the team's work, handling escalated issues, resolving problems, and setting strategy. This leader motivates and leads subordinate managers who administer strategy processes and tools that support the design, planning, and review of strategy across the ministry, supporting and managing strategic initiatives and providing advice for specific initiatives, including operations, business intelligence, project management, enabling the ministry to succeed. She or he directs teams that manage large strategic initiatives and integrate the deliverables, providing consulting and advice for specific initiatives, enabling the ministry to succeed.

  • Acts as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abides by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately supports responses to incidents if they occur.

  • Uphold and engage in Compassion’s core Cultural Behaviors.

  • Provides leadership, planning and consultation to subordinates, executives, and peer management in the successful alignment of assigned department resources to ensure achievement of operational priorities and initiatives, integrating priorities within organizational strategies to ensure that department's purpose is fulfilled.

  • Compiles or prepares and administers the annual budget and departmental expenses, ensuring accountability for on-time completion of deliverables based on department objectives, SLAs, and other Compassion standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory and board policies.

  • Selects, manages and develops assigned staff, establishing goals and objectives, coaching and managing performance, including discipline, motivation, and annual reviews; supports continuous learning and development that enhances individual performance and organizational capability.

  • Collaborates with leaders, participating in strategic Point-Of-View discussions looking toward the future, supporting the assigned function in the achievement of a strategic intent or vision, providing benefits to executives major ministry stakeholders, and/or transforming the organization, overseeing professional staff that convert the discussions into well-defined programs with milestones and criteria for leadership engagement.

  • Directs professional staff that develop and embed tools, processes and frameworks using the strategy methodology approach in the design, planning and review of global strategy and coordinate activities ensuring appropriate consistency, and employ effective follow-up and management disciplines to initiate, plan, execute and close-out activities to achieve defined objectives.

  • Works with other management and executives to cultivate mechanisms that drive transparency and healthy discussions, leading to successful strategy execution managed through an agreed decision making framework. In doing so, Compassion’s strategy management system is developed, implemented and released to promote collaboration, consistency and communication to the global ministry.

  • Directs a strategy team responsible for developing consistent and effective corporate metrics for the application of data in the corporate culture and ensures the development of strategic data/metrics definition, analysis, dashboards, tools, and artifacts to provide executive management with up-to-date status of key initiatives.
