Join our Global Technical Sourcing team as the Technical Sourcing Program Manager supporting the Neuroscience Operating Unit. Medtronic's Neuroscience Portfolio is centered around developing and implementing advanced neuromodulation technologies.
Global Technical Sourcing (GTS) bridges Global Supply Management (GSM) with Technology and New Product Development (NPD) Project Teams, aligning Medtronic Product and Supplier Technology Roadmaps. GTS accelerates innovation through suppliers to create a sustainable competitive advantage.
As part of the GSM Project Management function, the Technical Sourcing Program Manager will lead the reduction of overall supply risk and drive the adoption of Capable Technologies and sources in New Product Development, ensuring predictable supply and competitiveness through full Product Launch. Technical Sourcing is responsible for the timely execution of all project deliverables in the Product Development Process (PDP).

As the Technical Sourcing Program Manager, you will use consistent processes to reduce overall supply risk and drive the adoption of capable technologies and sources in New Product Development. This will result in predictable supply and competitiveness through a full product launch. Technical Sourcing is responsible for the timely execution of all TS project deliverables in the Product Development Process (PDP).
As the Technical Sourcing Program Manager, you will be the primary Sourcing point of contact for Technology and New Product Development (NPD) Project Teams, aligning Medtronic Product and Supplier Technology Roadmaps.
You will:
Lead and drive Supplier Identification, Evaluation, Selection, Development, Qualification, and Product Launch Ramp-up in line with Category and Product Development Strategies and preferred supplier segmentation.
Identify potential new sources in technologies where category strategies do not yet exist.
Lead, track, and manage improvements in procured component Supply Risk, Quality, Material Cost, and Response / Lead Time for the full Device procured Bill of Material (for both new and legacy components) in NPD.
Support launch readiness and transfer to operations. Lead component sourcing responsibility transfers post qualification. (to High Volume Facilities and Operations - transition from Technical Sourcing to local Site Sourcing and Category Management.
Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate, develop, qualify, and manage supplier projects for new product development programs.
Lead overall supply risk mitigation. Tracked and managed improvements in procured component supply risk, quality, material cost, and response/lead time for the full device procured bill of material (for both new and legacy components) in NPD.
Provide front-line negotiation with knowledge of category strategies and an ability to influence design/technology/source decisions.
Monitor and manage overall component risk levels for the project by establishing closed-loop communication with manufacturing facilities and Operations Sourcing partners to mitigate current sourcing risks in Product Development.
Must-Have:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant technical and/or sourcing experience or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant technical and/or sourcing experience.
Nice to Have:
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
Technical acumen in medical device technology
Experience with the development of material or component replacement efforts
