Job Objective
The Field Regional Check Airman Maintenance Test Pilot is responsible for providing relief to bases, performs pilot training and evaluation duties in accordance with the Metro Aviation, Inc. pilot training program.
Essential Functions
- Directly responsible for, and is the final authority as to the operation of the assigned aircraft at all times
- Perform duties in a professional and courteous manner to include interaction with customers, co-workers, Metro Aviation, Inc. management, and the general public
- Maintain qualification of and may be assigned the duties and responsibilities of Pilot-in-Command
- Maintain a work and training schedule as set forth by Metro Aviation, Inc. and be prepared to occasionally serve extra duty shifts, when called upon, due to Metro Aviation, Inc. timelines and requirements
- Attend Metro Aviation, Inc. meetings as required
- Comply with all directives and guidance of the Metro Aviation, Inc. General Operations Manual, Operations Specifications, Policy & Procedures, Company Bulletins, Federal Aviation Regulations and any other guidance/directives/regulations and procedures as applicable
- Perform pre-flight, in-flight, post-flight procedures and verify weight and balance in accordance with RFM, Metro Aviation, Inc., or Metro Maintenance facility procedures as appropriate
- Perform operational ground checks, taxi checks, hover checks, functional check flights, general and limited maintenance flights, confirmation check flights of aircraft and aircraft systems undergoing maintenance and determines, in accordance with RFM, FAA ADs, FAA SBs, and the airworthiness of an aircraft prior to its release
- Perform troubleshooting procedures of an aircraft on the ground and in flight, and makes appropriate (verbal or written) recommendations to assist maintenance personnel in correcting deficiencies
- Verify forms and records used in the performance of maintenance to ensure they comply with work performed prior to ground or flight checks
- Ensure proper documentation is chronicled for aircraft release to customer
- Perform ferry flights as required
- Maintain proficiency in basic flight maneuvers, appropriate aircraft emergency procedures and instrument flying, if applicable, for model flown consistent with Company requirements
- Conduct aviation training and evaluation as assigned and qualified for in accordance with the Metro Aviation, Inc. Approved Training Program
- Ensure standardized pilot training/procedures are adhered to in accordance with the Metro Aviation, Inc. Approved Training Program, as applicable to aircraft assigned
- Assist the Assistant Chief Pilot in developing training standards for training procedures and aircraft maneuvers, and continuous development and improvement of the Metro Aviation Approved Training Program
- Conduct classroom instruction as required
- Perform proper pre-flight inspection, servicing (fuel, oxygen, etc.) and confirm aircraft airworthiness
- Maintenance airworthiness flights as needed
- Operate aviation simulators or Flight Training Devices as required
- 20. Submit required reports as directed
- Attend meetings/conference calls as required or directed
- Work with the Chief Pilot and/or Regional Aviation Managers concerning issues related to pilot job performance
*May delegate any function (by approval of the Director of Operations) but retains responsibility.
