Server Administrator

Leidos Dig Mod Health IT division is seeking a skilled and collaborative Server Administrators to design, deploy, and maintain complex server environments both physical and virtual in a 24x7x365 environment for a highly visible Information Technology (IT) services effort for Health Human & Human Services (HHS) in Rockville, MD.

The Server Administrators will serve as the escalation point for complex server issues, ensuring prompt resolution and minimum downtime. Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers (e.g. Windows servers and Linux). Proactively monitor server performance and availability. Addressing issues and optimizing resources. Manage server backups and ensure recovery processes are in place and tested regularly.

Candidate MUST:

Be able to work onsite 1-2 days per week, locally available for on-site support in Rockville, MD, or Washington, DC.

Be a US Citizen or US Person who has lived in the United States for at least three consecutive years and have the ability to obtain a Public Trust level 4 clearance.

Responsibilities:

• Perform server  installation, configuration maintenance, account maintenance, patch management, and troubleshooting of server issues. 

• Provides technical support, administration, and monitoring of servers within the physical and virtual environment.

• Responsible for the security and management of servers in multiple production environments.

• Develop and document solutions to complex technical issues.

• Update operations and monitoring documentation for 24/7/365 operations.

• Commission and decommission server (s) upon request through approved change solution.

• Maintain server hardware and software assets in compliance.

• Implement capacity planning and tunning actions for server assets.

• Lead effort to collect data, conduct analysis, develop and implement solutions.

• Perform automation tasks through scripting and testing.

• Seek opportunities for continuous improvement for effective and efficient operations.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent and 4 + years of related experience.

• Experience with installing, configuring, and maintaining physical and virtual servers (e.g. Windows servers and Linux). 

• Experience with Azure cloud services.

• Experience with monitoring server performance and availability.

• Experience in addressing issues and optimizing resources.

• Experience managing server backups and ensuring recovery processes are in place and tested regularly.

• Proficient experience with one or more of the following: SCCM/Intune, BigFix, Active Directory,  Virtualization.

• Proficient with Scripting/Automation through PowerShell or other scripting languages.

• Knowledge of server administration including server architecture, installation service settings, configuration and patching.

Desired Qualifications:

• MCSE and or CompTIA Server+ certification preferred

• Experience with SAN or network storage setup and administration

• Experience working in Agile environment

• Experience with backup and restore procedures

• Experience with SQL and database maintenance

• IaaS Code

Clearance Required:

• Must be able to obtain & maintain a Public Trust throughout the course of employment.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $72,150.00 - $130,425.00
