Job Summary:

• The Migrant Education Program (MEP), a State administered program, has various components that need dedicated attention and planning.
• The Migrant Education Program Data Specialist is in part responsible for the overall management of all state MEP data, including but not limited to, the approval of all Certificates of Eligibility (COE), management of MEP student data, Consolidated State Performance Report (CSPR), Migrant Student Information Exchange (MSIX) data reconciliation and data integrity.
• Occasional in-state and out-of-state travel is required for this position.

The Arizona Department of Education currently utilizes a hybrid work environment, with up to two days of remote work (contingent upon business needs). Candidates should apply with an ability and willingness to work in-office up to five days per week as business needs necessitate.

Job Duties:

• Verify and validate all COEs for accurate information in accordance with federal regulations and assist in the implementation of the federal MSIX program. This is the final review prior to being entered into the state migrant database and then sent to the MSIX.
• Disaggregate data and produce reports regarding the MEP and assist in the completion of the CSPR.
• Work closely with the vendors for the collection and verification of MEP data.
• On-going support to the state Director and ID&R Coordinator regarding migrant student data.
• Provide state Director reports to determine annual allocations.
• Work closely with MEP Director and ID&R Coordinator to ensure accurate and efficient data reporting.
• Monitor and review of the State MEP sites for accurate data on all migrant student data, the MEP Site’s collection and reporting procedures.
• Maintain contact with Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to ensure accurate and efficient data reporting.
• Develop and deliver training (professional development) to stakeholders on MEP data policies and procedures, data reporting, and data consolidation. This includes monthly webinars, state and national conferences, ADE conferences, on-site/virtual technical assistance, and phone/email communication.
• Update the ADE Migrant website and provide monthly communication on the MEP newsletter.
• Other duties as assigned related to the position.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge in:
• Demonstrated experience managing a program or student database
• Instructional and support needs of migrant students
• Federal regulations regarding the Migrant Education Program (e.g.,grants, recruitment, and family engagement)
• Effective program and meeting facilitation
• Software conducive to developing presentations
• A Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience working with Migrant Education Programs is required.
