The American Heart Association has an outstanding opportunity for a National Director, Operations at our National Center in Dallas, TX.
The National Director, Operations is responsible for developing and ensuring effective business operations management for assigned department or business unit. Responsible for oversight of operational support functions in collaboration with Finance, Procurement, Legal, Human Resources, Business Technology or other departments as needed. Responsible for leading and ensuring processes and deliverables of the operations team meet the needs of the department/business unit.

Responsibilities
- Facilitate and manage the department/business unit budgets in coordination with the appropriate mentorship from the Finance Team. Prepares annual budget instructions and templates, facilitates budget training and communication, and collaborates with Financial Reporting team on revisions to ensure accuracy. Provides budget management support to leadership and managers for annual salary, operational and capital budgets. Works with leadership and Finance to guide them through the annual approval processes. Develops and implements new processes to provide consistent monthly departmental budget reporting.
- Analyzes costs and facilitates vendor negotiations to optimize potential savings in high risk, strategic contracts. Ensures service level agreements are achieved and vendor management policies are followed. Develop models and implement financial controls while collaborating with all parties to ensure vendors meet cost parameters. Liaises with Procurement and Legal as necessary to ensure efficient processing and completion.
- Manages the operations support team to ensure responsibilities are timely and accurately performed to include contract facilitation, purchase order generation, invoice payment as well as general administrative support functions for the department or management. Develop and implement standardized operations reporting as requested or required.
- Establish client, customer, or targeted audience data repository to supervise interactions and maintain relationships. Identify data needs and requirements to provide analysis of department activities and measure results. Develop continuous process improvement strategies to achieve efficiencies and cost savings.
- Prepares and distributes internal communications. Establishes operational practices, staff meetings, and department project schedules. Coordinate and be responsible for staffing resources and related activities. Act as liaison to Human Resources to identify vacancies for talent acquisition, employee administration needs, performance, and talent management resources, etc.
- Performs financial modeling and analysis for special projects, grant proposals or other budgets and projected spend. Assists in management of funds assigned or received from restricted sources. Coordinates and facilitates funding, resources, and reconciliation of restricted funded accounts.
- Performs other duties as the need arises or assigned which are reasonably within the scope and responsibility of the job level and family.
Qualifications
- Typically requires a degree or equivalent experience, 3 years prior meaningful experience and at least 1 year of leadership experience.
- Experience in analysis, budgeting and general business administration
- Experienced in interpreting accounting rules and applying the rules to business practices and documenting results accordingly
- Experience with vendor negotiations and mangement.
