What you`ll do 

 

SAP aims to develop an Open Reference Architecture (ORA) for a secure and sustainable cloud edge infrastructure that includes intelligent optimization methods for data transparency and security. This reference infrastructure, inspired by the EU IPCEI-CIS (Important Project of Common European Interest – Next Generation Cloud Infrastructure and Services) program, shall be the basis for future software development and a prerequisite for a pan-European cloud edge infrastructure. 

SAP will be working on the publicly funded project with both experienced employees from its existing workforce but also new hires. Therefore, we are looking for suitable candidates. If you are interested in Cloud Operating System development and operation, the usage and further development of Open-Source solutions and standards, interoperability, efficiency, and sustainability you should consider applying.

 

Summary:
IronCore is SAP’s next generation Open Source Cloud Infrastructure based on Kubernetes. We manage physical servers, storage and network infrastructure with Kubernetes controllers – providing a modern Cloud infrastructure to SAP developers and customers. IronCore uses a modern Software Defined Everything approach as well as hardware offloading capabilities to provide a flexible, yet performant base layer for application deployments.

 

The Role:

As a (Senior) Software Developer (f/m/d) you will:

• Be a crucial part of the development of our Linux based infrastructure
• Write Kubernetes operators for managing qemu/KVM processe
• Automate hardware inventory after boot up
• Modify the Linux kernel to fit our physical servers and automate remote management of our servers using the BMC
• Your target is to automate our server infrastructure deployment, always having a simple day-two operations in mind to increase the resiliency of the whole setup.
• Most of your code will be open source and written in Go. Collaboration with other SAP teams and partners in an international environment will be a regular part of your work.

 

 

What you bring 

 

• Multiple years of professional coding experience with Go
• Profound experience building Kubernetes APIs and Controllers
• Proven track of programming against hyperscaler APIs in the past (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Knowledge about Application Monitoring and Logging (Prometheus, Grafana)
• Willingness to work closely with frontend as well as system engineers on a day to day basis
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills
