Collins Aerospace is searching for a highly motivated manufacturing engineering leader that will help drive improved processes, increase automation, use the power of CORE (Collins internal continuous improvement), and willingness to lead highly skilled engineering teams. This role will support a common process area that supports all the site’s manufacturing, as well as a newly established wafer fabrication facility and team. It is a very exciting time for the site’s manufacturing team, and we are looking for someone to fit in with the current engineering leaders but bring diverse thought to our group.

This role will be performed onsite at our Collins location in Cedar Rapids, IA. 

This position may be eligible for relocation

What You Will Do:

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will oversee all technical aspects related to the common process and the wafer fabrication teams. The ideal candidate will:

• Lead and manage a team of manufacturing engineers, offering guidance, mentorship, and professional development to foster the success and growth of the team.
• Design and implement manufacturing processes and procedures aimed at optimizing production efficiency, quality, and safety.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to build and sustain strong partnerships.
• Effectively manage the unit's capital investments, tooling, and engineering labor budgets.
• Coordinate with production teams to ensure processes facilitate material flow and establish standard work practices.
• Work alongside cross-functional teams, including design engineering, production, and quality assurance, to develop and implement new products or processes.
• Create business cases focused on cost reduction, new work initiatives, and capital improvement projects, providing leadership to ensure successful execution.
• Offer technical support and guidance to address complex manufacturing challenges, troubleshoot issues, and enhance production output.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience 
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Qualification We Prefer:

• Strong technical strategy development and project planning skills
• Strong relationship management skills highlighted by experience in cross functional team leadership
• Demonstrate ability to collaborate with stakeholders at customer, peer, supplier and senior leadership levels 
• Analytical, problem solving and mathematical skills
•  Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
• Working knowledge of shop practices, policies and procedures governing manufacturing engineering support requirements as well as work instruction documentation for manufacturing processes
