Job purpose
In this exciting role, the Senior Manager, Budget Planning, Forecasting & Portfolio Management, will have a significant impact on the annual Clinical Trial budget planning process.
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining trial budget forecasts within the overall Clinical Trial Budget. Key responsibilities include; forecasting, actual to forecast variance, vendor accrual confirmation, vendor budget review and negotiation, preparation of invoice backup, and resource allocation & reporting.
Responsibilities
Responsible for utilizing enrollment metrics and CRO tools to provide accurate monthly and quarterly clinical trial forecasts for phase 1 and 2 programs
Ensure program level and clinical trial timelines are developed and updated to align with clinical trial forecasts
Apply understanding of CRO operational progress to clinical trial forecasts
Review, confirm, and approve monthly CRO vendor accruals for clinical trials; utilize actual costs to date to continually update clinical trial forecasts
Provide monthly, quarterly, & annually Actual vs Forecast analysis and comments on actual to date vs plan. Provide explanations on any material shifts based on trial enrollment and site activations
Review of clinical trial vendor change order budgets prior to execution. Partner with Director Budget Planning, Forecasting, and Portfolio Management and Clinical Outsourcing to negotiate vendor budgets and contracts. Update trial forecasts to include new change order budgets
Fundamental understanding of clinical trial finance, contracts to support invoice preparation and reporting to global collaboration partners
Partner with Finance and Alliance management to support resource tracking to global partners related to program collaborations
Refine and maintain R&D resource plans, generate reports and tools to share with Leadership. Monitor ongoing resource metrics to inform future planning
Perform monthly R&D time project allocation analysis and provide reporting to Project Management
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of financial experience in the CRO industry; MBA preferred
Strong background in project management which includes analytical and organization skills
Experience in financial analysis with a strong understanding of excel
Proven ability to switch between issues of different projects on the same day. Able to quickly answer any question by using your project tools and command of research
Excellent oral and written communication skills
In the U.S., the hiring pay range for fully qualified candidates is $190,000 - $210,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
