Join a dynamic team of inventive and passionate engineers, food scientists and sourcing managers in Food & Beverage Product Design & Sourcing at Target. We concept, develop, source and deliver our owned brand foods and beverages; everything from dry goods, snacks and beverages, to candy, fresh, frozen and dairy.  We research and engage with the food industry and the consumer marketplace to stay current on technical advances and get ahead of the trends. Join our dynamic and inventive team to influence the taste, quality and value that decisively positions Target above the competition.  

Be a part of the team sourcing outstanding food and beverage products for our guests. Build a world-class sourcing and business partner strategy at the program, vendor and facility level to drive optimal value within the Food and Beverage business.  Develop deep costing knowledge and negotiation skills and an understanding of key manufacturing/quality processes. Optimize efficiency within the supply chain by aligning with best practices and working with partner teams.  

  • Cross-Functional Leadership – Build strong and influential relationships with Product Development and Design, Merchandising, Planning, Responsible Sourcing, and Food Safety teams to develop and source our owned brand food programs.
  • Financial Results – Deliver on costing goals and drive financial results for the business.   Build negotiation plans and understand varied negotiation levers to optimize value and outcomes across multiple business categories.  Understand financials of your business and creatively influence balancing cost, quality and efficiency to improve sales and profitability, and drive best value.
  • Global/Business Partner Planning – Leverage a strong understanding of the global and domestic economic landscape, at both country of production and vendor/factory matrix levels.   Assess vendor and factory capabilities to develop a sourcing strategy that delivers on strategic opportunities and Target’s financial plans.  Develop vendor relationships to deliver high-quality food and beverage products at a great value for our guests.

About you:

  • 4-year degree
  • 5-8 years merchandising, sourcing or inventory management experience, including vendor engagement/management; food and beverage experience preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Ability to think strategically and conceptually
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with varying groups
