About the role

Amazon Web Services (AWS) internships are for 12 consecutive weeks during summer. By applying to this position, your application will be considered for all locations we hire for in the United States.

Annapurna is the custom silicon innovation engine within AWS and builds durable hardware acceleration, custom chips silicon, associated application software (Enhanced Networking, Neuron compiler), and all associated board-level hardware that is integrated into AWS servers and infrastructure.

Key job responsibilities
Your project could include, but not limited to working with one of the following groups:

-Design verification: This team is responsible for different aspects of verification (simulation,
emulation & formal) at unit-level, SoC or full system. We are also responsible for making sure the DV flows are working smoothly. This role would develop SV/UVM components or use C/C++ to develop tests for our next generation ML product.
-RTL design: This team is responsible for developing RTL designs for next generation ML products. The team delivers high quality design netlist and timing constraints to Physical design team and works closely with verification and SW team to ensure that the design intent matches with chip architecture specification. The RTL code is developed using Verilog.
-Emulator: This team is responsible to enable users to run emulation workloads to verify chip features. This involves emulation hardware setup, emulation testbench development, sw/tool integration, debug support, automation and working with vendors.
-Physical Design: This team will work closely with RTL designers to drive physical implementation including synthesis, P&R, clocking, timing closure, power optimization and physical verification for the next generation of Machine learning datacenter accelerators.
-Hardware Design: This team is responsible for the architecture of future Machine Learning
accelerator cards and servers. We develop and test new hardware that eventually will be deployed in AWS data centers.

Basic Qualifications


• Applied to the Howard/AWS Practicum and will be enrolled during the time of the co-op
• Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related degree from Howard University with graduation conferral date after December 2024
• Interest or prior experience with computer hardware development, physical design, design verification or relevant domains


Preferred Qualifications

• Programming experience with at least one modern language such as: C++, C#, Java, Golang, PowerShell, Python, Ruby, System Verilog, VHDL
• Experience with Amazon Web Services
• Demonstrated track record of dealing with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering measurable results in an agile environment.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $50/hr in our lowest geographic market up to $102.02/hr in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
