**This is a Full-time 40 hours a week position.

 

Level 1 Wing C (L1WC) Medical Specialties

 

The Clinical Nurse Supervisor is responsible for patient flow and overall day to day operations that impact the care unit or department. Provides direct oversight of care to support patient and sta? needs. Serves as a role model and leader to uphold institutional priorities, policies and practices.

 

L1WC is a multi-level  53-bed, inpatient medicine unit. We care for adults typically on the inpatient medicine service who suffer from acute and/or chronic illness. Our team approach and changing environment make it a great place to learn and build/expand on nursing assessment, delegation, prioritization, critical thinking and time management skills. We have a team dedicated to process improvement, problem solving, and teambuilding, which has allowed us to become a unit where everyone is a part of the solution.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates and assist with operations by functioning as the first line supervisor to staff. Acts as a resource to staff to provide direct assistance or connect with appropriate resources.
  • Participates in performance management of staff members to including coaching, preparation of performance evaluations, and the performance management process. Initiates disciplinary action as appropriate.
  • Works with the staff to facilitate patient flow and to optimize clinical capacity. Determines when and how to flex staff schedules to provide clinical coverage.
  • Facilitates timely throughput to optimize clinical capacity within the organization.
  • Performs service recovery to promote patient and employee retention. Responds to staff and patient/family needs.
  • Addresses conflicts as they may arise. Assists/mediates discussions to maintain smooth operations.
  • Participates in institutional Quality and Patient Safety improvement initiatives, committees and projects.
  • Develops, plans, and coordinates the implementation and evaluation of orientation for new staff. Collaborates with the rest of the leadership team to assess and evaluate the clinical competence of department staff.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
  • Qualifications

    • Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required.
    • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree of Nursing (BSN) at time of hire.
    • 2 years of progressive responsibility within an acute care setting required.
    • Specialty certification preferred.
    • Must obtain and maintain clinical competencies within assigned unit.
    • Excellent written, verbal and computer skills required.
    • Demonstrated abilities with problem solving, leadership, communication, fiscal responsibility and teamwork.
    • Ability to work effectively in groups of employees and with patients and patient families is essential.

    Required Licensure/Certifications

    • Licensed Registered Nurse with New Hampshire eligibility.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire.
