Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Engineer for employment within our Environment Health and Safety Compliance group in the Orange, California office to support our environmental compliance projects. The ideal candidate will be a motivated individual interested in learning new skills through both collaborative team assignments and individual projects with oversight from experienced mentors.  Work assignments will include collection and evaluation of client environmental compliance data for preparation of regulatory agency reports and compliance records.  Interested candidates should have excellent communication and presentation skills.

This position is expected to begin in Spring 2026.

Tasks will include:

  • Collect and evaluate project data in both field and office settings.
  • Perform environmental fieldwork primarily in relation to industrial hygiene, environmental compliance, and EHS auditing.
  • Assist in the preparation of stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPPs), Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, air permit applications, Hazardous Materials Business Plans.
  • Conduct Phase I site assessments, environmental sampling and site visits.
  • Prepare and implement work plans, data compilation/analysis, and report preparation (text, tables, figures, and calculations).
  • Gain knowledge of specific government agency requirements.
  • Review permits and plans to facilitate compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Independently determine and develop approaches to solutions.
  • Proactively encourage a culture of producing high-quality work and the importance of health and safety within the team.
  • Collaborate with other AECOM offices, practices, and business lines.
  • Undertake technical work in accordance with the contracted scope of work, budget, schedule and regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to increase project efficiencies, improve technical methodologies and add value to client service offerings.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental/Civil/Chemical Engineering.
  • Valid US Driver’s License, and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's motor vehicle records review.
  • Due to the nature of work, US citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • HAZWOPER 40-Hour Certification.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Familiarity with environmental or health and safety regulations (e.g., Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, etc.).
