Overview
Summary:
Under the direction of the President/COO of Living Rehab, The VP, Clinical Excellence and Compliance Officer is responsible for developing, overseeing and directing the Clinical Service/Education and Compliance programs to ensure Living Rehab/Reliant Rehabilitations standards are upheld. The position works with the Living Rehab team to develop long-range plans for growth and development of the Senior Living Division. The VP or Director of Clinical Excellence and Compliance will be the subject matter expert with the ability to provide guidance for interdisciplinary content and interdepartmental collaboration. The VP or Director of Clinical Excellence and Compliance represents Living Rehab/Reliant Rehabilitation’s commitment to quality and service in all interactions and maintains professional conduct including positive levels of interaction and rapport with clinicians, communities and partners, while adhering to Living Rehab/Reliant Rehabilitation’s Policies and Procedures. This position requires comprehensive understanding of Medicare and Commercial Insurances and other applicable regulatory agencies and accreditations and adheres to all state and federal regulations.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing Clinical Service/Education and Compliance strategic vision and direction within the Division.
- Develops and conducts internal compliance auditing and monitoring and assisting/participating in external audits as needed. Responding promptly to potential compliance issues and conducting investigations and corrective action plans in a timely manner. Reports all finding to senior management.
- Collaborating with Prompt EMR vendor on product support, development and continuous improvement for the system
- Develops and analyzes field and internal tools, training, and audits to allow for assessment of staff competency as well as to promote positive patient outcomes.
- Ensures completeness and consistency in processes and projects.
- Provides support for staff and a strong leadership presence.
- Possesses knowledge and understanding of Senior living regulatory policies and processes including federal, state, local, and payor specific.
- Stays updated of regulatory changes and ensures proper education and effective implementation to all field staff.
- Provides directive, from a clinical and compliance perspective to staff to assist in evidenced based problem solving, clinical approaches, and documentation guidelines as needed for resolution of clinical and compliance related topics or incidents.
- Collaborates as part of the leadership team regarding workplan goals and objectives to achieve Living Rehab/Reliant’s strategic business plan.
- Collaborates with Senior Leadership in creating and implementing action plans.
- Oversees updates, training, rights management, and education of staff concerning use of clinical systems (Prompt and One Step)
- Oversees creation and implementation of Living Rehab/Reliant specific documents, tools, and education materials for therapy staff to promote superior quality of care and support best and most compliant practices.
- Oversees the development of policies and procedures related clinical and compliance management and ensures appropriate updates.
- Sends proposals to senior living and therapy associations for presentation at state and national conferences.
- Prepares for and participates in weekly meeting with executive team, clinical team, and appeals team.
- Completes assignments timely and efficiently.
- Maintains confidentiality of proprietary information and/or information shared within the department related to customer specific requests.
- Must conduct self in an ethical, legal, and responsible manner at all times.
- Must adhere to the policies, principles, and guidance within the Employee Handbook and Code of Business Conduct.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
Competency: (If providing direct patient care at any time, a Regional Director of Operations may complete the discipline specific competency checklist).
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
- Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend, in English: instructions, correspondence, memos, and reports.
- Ability to utilize various computer software systems to generate reports. Ability to utilize email and online systems for communication/correspondence/scheduling.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Exceptional clinical reasoning and ability to serve as a mentor/coach to providers of patient care.
